EDRG 3321 Chapter 7 Picture Books
I am a very visual person and I love picture books. Picture books help you imagine what is going on in the story without giving vivid descriptions. I also like to see the authors view. Everyone sees differently and i would imagine the scene differently. I can't draw well and seeing other peoples drawings inspire me. i also liked the history of the picture books never knew there was a father of picture books. I stil remember my some of the picture books from when i was little and i know read them to my son. Picture books i fell help engage children in reading.
EDRG 3321 Chapter 6 Little Red Riding Hood
I enjoyed hearing this story. I thought it was interesting to know how the story come about. I never knew there was an old story, well that it was first this story and people changed it. The story has a differences that you notice write in the beginning. The wolf is called a bzou. Little red riding hood eats her grandmother's meat and drinks her blood. I thought that was pretty gruesome and glad they changed that part. When Mrs.Pickett talked about the story in class she talked about the girl shedding her clothes and how it could mean her going threw maturity. The story wouldn't be good to tell in school. I would be afraid to get complaints from concerned parents.
EDRG 3321 CH. 5 & 14
I love poetry!! I like chapter 5, it gives a lot of information about poetry the different types and kinds. The chapter also gives different ways you can categorize poetry. My favorite is free verse. I also like poems that don't give all the information but leave you guessing. The chapter gives good examples. Chapter 14 has good ideas of what we can do as teachers in the classroom to help engage the students with literature. Also to involve the students as much as we can so they also are authors and not just doing worksheets. I also think that the book is right in saying that us as teachers should believe we are good writers and the children will believe too.

EDRG 3321: Author Profile

Is there really a human race? By Jamie Lee Curtis and Laura Cornell
I bought this book at a book fair and I loved it. I didn't know that Jamie Lee Curtis was also a writer, i knew she was an actor. The book is viewed in a child's perspective, he doesn't know at first what a human race is. He thinks it's a race to see who wins. The book gives examples of the child's thoughts, it's pretty funny what he thinks. His mom in the end sits down and explains. I really enjoy this book my seven year old son once told a friend of Ming that was African American, "Why are you so dark?" My friend replied "Because I'm a different race." My son said, "I can race!" and started running around the couch. This book reminded me of my son. Here's the website:http://www.jamieleecurtisbooks.com/humanrace.html

EDRG 3321: Shared Reading
I think shared reading is very important in classrooms. I remember being little and loving when my teacher read new stories. I love to read. I read to my son and he enjoys all his books. Reading the shared reading article helped me understand why its important to read to children when they are little. They might not understand it fully but with repetition they will learn. They're little mind will start formulating questions and guesses. As we get older we start interpreting things differently and making sense of everything that is going on in the book. If i were to read a book that i read as a child it would mean something totally different then what i thought it meant as a child. Reading has always been enjoyment for me, reading of any kind will be good for our students.
